Academic Programmes Offered

The subject combinations below are based on the new standard curriculum set by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) for all Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) curricula. According to this new curriculum, students can graduate with a minimum of 7 subjects (4 core and 3 electives) and a maximum of 9 subjects (4 core and 5 electives). As part of our commitment to inclusive education, all students learn Sign Language (GSL) as a core subject for a minimum of one year.

Academic Competitions

 Because we believe education is the key to success, we participate in key educational competitions that build the mind of our students and make them sharper than they usually would be. The selection process is transparent and every student is given the chance to justify why he or she should be picked. We are currently participating in two (2) educational competitions, namely: National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ) and The Sharks Quiz.

National Science & math Quiz

 Sonrise Christian High School is the only private High School in Ghana to have qualified for the national stage of the NSMQ competition over the last three years.

  • 2018 – Progressed from regional stage, to the national preliminary stage and then to the national one-eight stage.
  • 2019 – Progressed from the regional stage to the national preliminary stage.
  • 2020 – Progressed from regional stage and then to the national one-eight stage.
  • 2021 – Progressed from regional stage and then to the national quarter-finals.
  • 2022 – Nationally seeded.

The Sharks Quiz

  • 2020 – Progressed to the one-eight stage.
  • 2021 – Progressed to the semi-finals.
